Discover an Abundance of Alaskan Activities at or near the Grizzly Lodge
Fall & Winter Activities
Winter is a magical time at the Grizzly Lodge. Aurora borealis, also known as the Northern Lights, paint the skies and is visible from the lodge on clear nights. We offer wake-up calls so you don’t have to stay up all night and our aurora guide can help answer questions of the northern lights and give you tips on how to photograph them.
Daytime activities include:
- Snowshoeing and cross country skiing from the lodge and through the taiga
- Dog mushing (also known as dog sledding) nearby at Paws For Adventure
- Soak in mineral baths at Chena Hotsprings
- Ice fishing experience
- Guided snowmobile adventures
At night, the Northern Lights are frequently visible from the Grizzly Lodge and it remains one of the main reasons guests come to visit during the dark time of the year. Be sure to visit our Aurora page for more information!

Spring & Summer Activities
Summertime in Fairbanks, Alaska is the perfect time to pack it all in! Our proximity to the Arctic Circle makes our summer days long with more than 20 hours of sunlight during solstice. Guests enjoy hiking, wildlife viewing, fishing, and relaxing on the property. The woods are home to moose, fox, bears, migratory birds such as Canada geese and sandhill cranes, as well as squirrels and other critters.
